The overlap of visual and verbal language between firearms and cameras* points to the influence of ballistics on the history of photography. While not directly lethal, the parallels suggest the potency of the camera. They are alarming and unsettling. Calibration charts and riffle targets mark points of focus to yield your weapon of choice, barrel or lens. This collaboration was inspired by the literal impulse to make tangible this crossover. In Sharp Shooting, Gould hand paints calibration targets with reclaimed inkjet ink. Wilson shoots them with gun and camera, fine tuning her accuracy and calibrating herself as a marksman rather than a photographer.
